An autopsy done on the body of a 17-year-old boy discovered on Nuns’ Island has confirmed the teenager was the victim of a homicide.
Montreal police spokesperson Andrée-Anne Picard said the autopsy was completed on Tuesday and a coroner determined the victim had been attacked with a knife. His body was discovered by a passerby shortly after 7 a.m. in a wooded area near De Gaspé St.
No one has been arrested in connection with the crime and Picard said the circumstances that led to the teen’s death remain a mystery.
According to the CBC, the victim was originally from Morocco and moved to Canada a decade ago with his mother and an older brother and the family has lived on Nuns’ Island for the past eight years.
This homicide is the 27th reported on the territory covered by the Montreal police so far this year, compared with 24 in 2017 and 23 in 2016.
