Police on the South Shore have called off a search for a 78-year-old Montreal woman who went missing Friday night after she ended up being located in a town 450 kilometres east of the city she was last seen in.

The Régie Intermunicipale de Police de Roussillon called off the search for Lilianne Paradis Pinet, 78, after getting word from the Sûreté du Quebec she had been found in Pohénégamook, a town in Quebec near its borders with both New Brunswick and Maine in the U.S.

South Shore police report she was in good health, but noted “the reasons for her presence in that area remain to be determined.”

On Friday, Paradis Pinet visited her sister in Ste-Catherine, a town 20 km south of Montreal, for most of the day on Friday and left by car at 9 p.m.

The Ville-Émard resident’s family became concerned as she was supposed to return to her residence, but never arrived.
