A man in his mid-20s was arrested by the Longueuil police Friday evening after a shot was fired near a busy intersection.
Longueuil police spokesperson Constable Jean-Pierre Voutsinos said the shot was fired during an argument between two men who were standing near the intersection of Taschereau Blvd. and Saint Georges St., a crossway where several small businesses are lined along both roadways.
“During the argument, one of the two men pulled out a firearm and fired off a shot, striking no one, and then he fled,” Voutsinos said. “The victim (a man in his 20s) hid at a fire station close to where it happened.”
Voutsinos said officers arrested the man they believe was the shooter after pulling over a vehicle that matched the description of one used by the gunman to flee the scene. He also said investigators will meet with both men to try to determine what the motive was behind the shooting.
